We here at Gamut Theatre are extremely excited about our curriculum for young actors. Classes are organized by content. This means that no matter how old you are or how much experience you have we have a class for you!

Our goal is to enhance communication skills and develop self-confidence, imagination, and creativity. In doing so, we educate the student on a general knowledge of the theatre while having lots of fun! All Gamut Theatre Academy classes are held at Gamut Theatre in downtown Harrisburg and are instructed by professional actors and the Core Company of Gamut Theatre Group. 

Gamut offers Spring Theatre School Classes from January through April, and Fall Theatre School classes from September through December. All classes culminate with a production performed by the students. Students must be available for final dress rehearsals and performance dates.

Classes Offered: Fall 2024

Classes begin the week of September 9th. Final performances are the week of December 9th.

Please note that final performance times may not be scheduled at the time class normally happens each week. Below are the dates for the first day of classes and the dates/times of the final performance for each class.

TUESDAY CLASSES

Acting I - 5:30 - 6:30 PM

For graduates of Theatre Basics or new admits who set up an audition/interview online with the instructor. Students expand their knowledge of theatre with a more in-depth study of how to create a character and learn additional tools for performance. 

Acting II - 7:00 - 8:00 PM

For graduates of Acting I or new admits who set up an audition/interview online with the instructor. Students explore more challenging roles and examine different styles and types of acting. All students must have instructor approval to enter this class. 

THURSDAY CLASSES

Theatre Basics - 4:30 - 5:30 PM

Introductory course for students with little or no experience. Students learn the “Basics” of theatre performance: projection and enunciation for the voice, basic movement skills, and expanding their imagination and creativity.

Performance Class - 6:00 - 8:00 PM (By Invite Only)

For graduates of Acting II. Students spend the Fall semester learning more advanced acting techniques which they then apply in the Spring semester for their End of Year performance.

SATURDAY CLASSES

Theatre Basics - 9:30 - 10:30 AM

Introductory course for students with little or no experience. Students learn the “Basics” of theatre performance: projection and enunciation for the voice, basic movement skills, and expanding their imagination and creativity.

Acting I - 10:45 - 11:45 AM

For graduates of Theatre Basics or new admits who set up an audition/interview online with the instructor. Students expand their knowledge of theatre with a more in-depth study of how to create a character and learn additional tools for performance. 


All classes for the Fall, except Performance Class, are $210/semester. *Performance Class costs $240 for Fall 2024, and $270 for Spring 2025*
